Northbrook Receives Centre Approval

T he Music Department at Northbrook College is delighted to announce it has been granted Centre Approval and Course Accreditation from prestigious music industry organisations.

JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Services) is the education arm of the Association of Professional Recording Services (APRS), the Music Producers Guild (MPG) and The UK Screen Association and grants Centre Approval and Accreditation to Higher Education courses to institutions that offer courses that are relevant to the music industry. Made up of industry professionals, JAMES is dedicated to making links between education and the media industries.

The scheme indicates to employers the standard of knowledge and expertise that can be expected from a prospective employee who has completed a course at that institution and also gives potential students assurance of a school’s integrity and worth.

The many benefits of Centre Approval for the College include access to working professionals for consultation and planning, maintaining links with industry, master-classes, careers conferences and other events supplied by JAMES - and graduates from the College’s courses will be included on the JAMES database of graduates for employers to access.

The assessors who visited the College commented that the lecturers were very industry experienced and highly motivated with a good cross section of experiences and a high level of technical excellence. They were also extremely impressed with the extensive and up-to-date industry standard resources provided for the students.

The students were very positive regarding the facilities and the support given to them by the course team at all stages of the course.

The assessors also stated that the Further Education courses provide good progression routes to the College’s Higher Education courses and the students that were interviewed were keen to follow that progression.
