Christmas Comes Early for Students
A
group of eleven school students, who attend Northbrook College’s Hospitality department one day a week as part of their studies, served guests from French partner school Lycée les Bruyères as well as staff and students from their own schools.
The Year 10 ‘Increased Flexibility’ Hospitality students, from Hove Park School & Blatchington Mill School, laid on a lavish Christmas lunch for 80 at Blatchington Mill School.
The students were ably assisted by two ex-Hove Park students, both of whom progressed from Northbrook’s Increased Flexibility programme onto a Level Two Hospitality course.
Chef Lecturer, Neil Libby, had the task of overseeing the preparation and service of the meal – a traditional roast turkey lunch – which was very well received by all the guests. The hospitality students also had the task of laying up the tables, complete with Christmas crackers, so they were on the go from the minute they arrived until they finished washing up at 3 o’clock.
Chef Libby was very pleased with the students’ professionalism and said, “The students performed brilliantly. By showing they can successfully work as a team at this age, they’ll make excellent chefs in the future.”
