The Course

A course for adults of all ages who want to explore their visual creativity in a challenging environment. Specialist tutors help students to build confidence and a portfolio of work to enable progression (optional) onto a chosen Higher Education course in Art, Design or Media.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal academic requirements and acceptance will be based on an interview and presentation of a portfolio of work.

Course Content

The course is divided equally between 'Core' Studies and 'Design' Studies. The Core Studies programme includes visual study through drawing, life drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. Also included are Art/Design History, Cultural and Supporting Studies with lectures, seminars, research assignments and study visits.

Design Studies encompass diagnostic and specialist modules in Fine Art, Fashion & Textiles, Three Dimensional Design, Graphic Design & Illustration and Media Arts. Part-time students join full-time students for some of the course.

Assessment/Exams

Continuous assessment throughout the two years based on project work with three main assessment points. There is an exhibition of the final exam project.

Progression/Career Path

HND/Degree or other Higher Education courses in Art, Design and related subjects.
