The Course
The Foundation Degree is a two year full time course. The two pathways available at Northbrook share several common modules in the first year, with specialist modules in the second year.Students on the Foundation Degree in Games Design will develop a range of theoretical and practical skills that are needed in the games industry. The main focus is on the design of games, from the initial concept to the final product, including 3D modelling and games engines, with an understanding of the underlying scripting or programming technologies. You will use industry-standard tools and technologies to gain practical experience of building a range of multimedia assets and prototype games.

The Foundation Degree route offers the opportunity to transfer to a relevant Honours Degree midcourse. After completion of the Foundation Degree, students may join a Degree top-up course. Career opportunities include programming, software development, systems integration and testing, sales support, quality assurance and compliance and configuration management.

160 UCAS points from one of the following:
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in a relevant subject
- A Levels - at least 140 points from A2 Levels (including a relevant subject)
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points
- Access Course alongside GCSE (minimum grade C) in at least three subjects including English Language and Mathematics. Key/Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Communications are recognised equivalents.
Mature students without formal qualifications but with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
