Fools 4 Music
N orthbrook’s Music Department has been keeping the local bands of Worthing on their toes with their ‘Fools for Music’ competition.
The Department recently rocked up at Worthing High and Kings Manor Community College where bands from the schools battled it out for a place in the College’s competition. The bands were all keen to win the prize of two days’ free studio time in Northbrook’s industry-standard music studio complex to record an EP.
Last week, the final of the competition was hosted in Northbrook’s Theatre Bar at the West Durrington Campus. The packed out night featured bands from the two visited schools as well as a band from Boundstone Community College and was a great opportunity for potential students to see what Music at Northbrook has to offer.
Music lecturer, Mike Pailthorpe, said, “It was a fantastic night – great bands, lots of students and parents plus the bar had its best night of the year”.
Kings Manor band, Smoke Wagon, won the competition which will also see them feature at Northbrook’s Music event, ‘Exposure’, at the Komedia in the summer. Attended by local music industry professionals, the event last year saw bands make the bill for Greenway Festival.
