Freshers Enjoy The Fair

Boys in a football goal N orthbrook welcomed hordes of new students to the College by hosting its annual Freshers Fair at the West Durrington campus on Wednesday.

The campus was packed with games and amusements, including a bungee run, a penalty shoot-out and sumo wrestling, live demonstrations and over 30 stalls. Representatives from Chelsea Football Club and Worthing Thunder Basketball Team organised games and competitions for students to win prizes. Other exhibitors included The Royal Airforce, The Information Shop, Worthing Leisure Centre & Aquarena, Blackbelt Leaders, The National Blood Service and Worldwide Volunteers.

Hundreds of students, both college and university level, queued up for the games, picked up freebies and watched performances from Theatre and Dance students, Sama Karate and fire throwers.

The College’s own stands were also a big hit. Hair & Beauty students gave out free manicures and head massages whilst Catering students ran a BBQ and Pancake stall including a pancake tossing competition!

The entertainment continued into the night with an after party at the Pier Nightclub. Student bands and DJs from the College played during the night and a free prize draw was held. Performing Arts student, Conor Murray, picked the winning envelope and won an iPod.

The annual Freshers Fair welcomes new students to college life and this was the biggest and most successful fair so far. Paul Norman, Head of Curriculum Services, said, “This is definitely the best Fresher event the College has seen and we are really pleased with how much support we received from local companies. Freshers Fair is a great opportunity for our new students to settle into the College.”
