T en of this year’s graduates from the BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree course at Northbrook College impressed industry professionals on and off the catwalk as they showcased their final collections at Graduate Fashion Week in London.
Student Michael Williamson not only impressed the audience with his designs on the catwalk but was offered a prestigious Personal Assistant position with fashion expert and television presenter, Caryn Franklin, who hosted the Gala Shows at the event.
Michael has previously secured placements at McQ, designing for Alexander McQueen’s Diffusion range, at Ada Zandition and Gareth Pugh.
Emma Shakespeare’s collection inspired by ‘Orientalism’ saw her shortlisted for the Zandra Rhodes’ Textile Award. Emma successfully completed a placement with Peter Jensen in the second year of her degree.
Amy Moore’s collection was shortlisted for the Gala award which showcased the very best collections from all the shows staged throughout the week. Amy’s stunning collection was inspired by the Russian Revolution and focused on the relationship between people and politics, art and the functionality of the clothes we wear.
Fashion Media and Promotion student Jade Warren also stood out from the crowd and was spotted by the Creative Art Director of Elle magazine, Marissa Bourke, who was so impressed with her portfolio that she offered her an internship.
This year Graduate Fashion Week played host to over 50 of the top fashion and textile universities from the UK and overseas.
Every year Northbrook College stages a catwalk show to great acclaim and impresses the audience with its collections. The fashion show was attended by a number of distinguished guests from the fashion industry, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Basso & Brooke, Ben Sherman, New Look, Oswald Boateng, Arcadia Group and River Island as well as international press and the friends and families of the students.
