Course content
A one year course, built around 3 Units, two of which are practical and a dissertation. The first practical unit focuses on the development of individual skills, and offers the opportunity for public performances, placements or exhibitions. For the second practical unit, students, working in companies, are free to choose material to produce a final public show. The course accepts between 40 and 50 students per year from the UK and abroad.
Progression opportunities
Graduates can progress into industry reflecting their training focus, e.g. performers, technicians, designers ,stage managers and directors. Many continue training through post graduate courses, including the Northbrook PGCE course.
Work experience?
In the past this has included professional work in the industry, TIE and placements in schools.
Where / what students have progressed to do?
Graduates have gone on to work with many companies, including: Glyndebourne Opera House, The RSC, Prodigal Theatre Company, Ragroof Theatre Company, Carlos Cortes, and formed their own theatre companies, gaining Arts Council funding to develop and tour shows. Others have progressed to teaching qualifications, and are now working in education.
