Northbrook Welcomes New Principal
N
orthbrook College is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Principal. Sue Dare joined the College in November and has taken over from David Percival, who retired in October.
Sue has lived and worked in Sussex since 1981 when she undertook a Masters Degree at Sussex University. She studied English and Education at Westminster College, Oxford. Early jobs included tutoring adult and community learning, EFL teaching, Open University teaching and working with young people on YTS schemes. This gave her an insight into the range and diversity of Further and Higher Education.
She said:
“Northbrook College is unique in West Sussex for its range and levels of courses with progression from Entry to Degree level across such a wide range of subjects. It is great to be leading a College with a regional and national reputation for Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering as well as for Creative Industries.
My ambition for the College is that young people, adults and employers in the Worthing area think of Northbrook as the first and best choice for vocational education.”
Sue was previously Deputy Principal at Central Sussex College where she led Teaching, Learning and Quality resulting in good grades in an Ofsted inspection earlier this year. Before that she was Director of 14-19 Learning at Sussex LSC (Learning & Skills Council), which meant close working with schools and colleges in Sussex to set up vocational opportunities for 14-16 year olds as well as planning post-16 curriculum.
Chair of the College Corporate Governing Body, Jane Claxton said,
“We were delighted to be able to appoint Sue Dare to take over. Sue has extensive career experience in education and training, both as a teacher and manager and she shares our passion and belief in the value of the work that we do. We all look forward to working with Sue to help take Northbrook forward to the next stage in its development. I am certain that Sue has the leadership qualities that will inspire the staff and student community that is Northbrook College to become truly outstanding in its field.”
