The Ocean's Skin
T heatre, Performance and Music students from Northbrook College presented an exciting and innovative outdoor performance at Brighton’s open air American Express Plaza in Edward Street.
Devised specially for Brighton Festival, The Ocean’s Skin was a new collaboration between Northbrook College degree students, Brighton-based Directors and Northbrook lecturers, Clare Raftery and Adrian Court.
Using Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick, sea shanties and Brighton’s own coastal history as inspiration, the new collaboration explored the nature of movement between the city and the sea.
The three day event was commissioned by Brighton Festival 2009 and part funded by American Express. The event provided an excellent opportunity to experience the creative work that the students and staff at the College produce and find out more about the vast range of courses offered.
