Famous Crime Writer visits Northbrook for World Book Day

Sue talks to the students N orthbrook College students celebrated World Book Day on March 5th in the College Library with local crime writer Sue Walker.

Sue is an investigative television journalist who has spent many years specialising in crime-related documentaries. Her CV boasts work for all the UK networks, including the BBC and Channel 4 and her first of three books published, the Reunion, was selected for WH Smith's Fresh Talent and reached number 6 in the Australian bestseller list.

Students studying English, including GCSE, Literacy, ESOL and Key Skills at Northbrook as well as students from Worthing College were given the opportunity to listen to Sue’s talk on ‘How to plan and write a crime story’. After the talk, students participated in an interactive group exercise and impressed Sue with their imaginative ideas.

Sue has recently started teaching a 13-week workshop-based Creative Writing course at the College and many of her students attended the morning talk.

The main purpose of World Book Day is to encourage people to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to be stimulated by a new challenge.

Sue’s new thriller, The Burning, will be out in October this year.
