A Northbrook student has won the ‘Best Womenswear’ award at Graduate Fashion Week in London.

Rhea Fields impressed the judges with her collection entitled ‘About A Boy’, which featured masculine tailored trousers and blazers mixed with feminine chiffon, sequins and bows.

Rhea’s award means that she has been offered an impressive selection of internships with world famous fashion houses.

Two other Northbrook students were shortlisted for prizes - HelenaYazdian-Tehrani for the Menswear Award and Delavieje Nahvi's for the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award.

The Northbrook College catwalk show was a great success and attended by a number of fashion journalists and distinguished guests from the fashion industry, including designer Julien MacDonald; Hilary Alexander (Fashion Director at The Telegraph); Betty Jackson and Mark Eley from Eley Kishimoto; Sarah Brennand (Recruitment Director for Abercrombie & Fitch)and international press.

This year Graduate Fashion Week played host to over 50 of the top fashion and textiles universities from the UK and overseas.

Simon Seivewright, Course Leader of Northbrook’s Fashion Design degree, said, “I am so very proud that three of our talented students got through to the gala awards and that Rhea has won this prize. I was on the edge of my seat and keeping everything crossed for her. She has had a really difficult few months recently and has worked incredibly hard to get to this point - she totally deserves to win.”

Rhea is 22 and came to Northbrook from Emsworth to study for the BA Honours degree in Fashion Design.
